Cost Share Programs
North Carolina Ag Cost Share Program:
Designed to reduce the input of sediment, nutrients, animal waste, & pesticides into our state's water. The NCACSP helps farmers install best management practices installation (vegetative, structural, or management systems) by offering a 75% reimbursement of an average cost of BMPs. Some cost shared BMPs include Animal Water Systems, Grassed Waterways, Field Borders, Stream Protection Systems and Stream Bank Stabilization.
Federal programs designed to address various problems on agricultural lands:
Community Conservation Program:
Designed to treat polluted water runoff & improve the water quality of our state's waterways. Eligible participants may be reimbursed up to 75% of installation cost for cisterns, rain gardens, vegetation establishment, riparian buffers and more.
The district has several pieces of agricultural equipment for rent to farmers in Transylvania County. All of the equipmnet was purchased using TVA - Ag and Forestry grants and was done to promote agricultural sustainability.
